Mountains!
Oh. My. God. Y’all. When I tell you I was excited to see the mountains while driving deeper into Colorado on day 3 of my adventure, it doesn’t quite capture it.
Here’s an audio I took right after I experienced my first look.
Right?! So excited. haha
To be honest, I wasn’t paying as much attention to the music playing as I was the views this particular day. Having grown up in Minnesota and spent the last decade there, I got used to flat lands. Beautiful! Truly. But definitely no mountains haha So this day I took a bunch of photos on my drive to take in what I was seeing and pretty much had my mouth hanging open the entire ride.
Aaaaaand because I’m no longer there, I will divulge in this public blog that for the month of November I was in Howard, CO. Woo hoo! If you remember reading from a previous blog I actually manifested this stop of my adventure years ago while making a collage. If you Google “Howard, Colorado” and then look at the collage from my blog, you will see some VERY similar images. Cool!
Ok, ok. Airbnb time! I drove up to my studio Airbnb and immediately loved it. There were horses on the property as well as next door that I immediately waved and said hi to as well as views of the mountains while sitting outside in the backyard. I specially chose this Airbnb because of the animals that I would eventually get to meet and because I wanted to be in a smaller town for some peace and quiet. That’s exactly what I got! Hardly a peep I heard aside for some chicken and turkey noises. I was also visted almost immediately by deer that laid down just outside the backyard fence. I of course “EEEEEEEE”ed from inside and told them how beautiful they are. :)
One of the things I reflected on during that first night in Howard was how grateful I am. I not only GET TO have this adventure, but I CREATED it for myself and now I’m in the middle of experiencing what I created. I know for some this type of adventure seems so far out of reach. “How can I do something like this? I can’t because of x,y,z.” My answer is twofold: 1. Your adventures are your own and are of your own making, so yours will look different than mine no matter what. 2. The only barrier to choosing to follow your excitement is you. I have learned that over and over and over this lifetime and I’m finally really letting it sink in. I’m experiencing what I experience (this traveling journey, the work I do, the people I meet, etc.) because of the choices I have made and continue to make along the way. I genuinely believe that! And I’m getting quicker at pivoting toward the most exciting thing in each moment, which leads me to even more joy and fun! weee! So! If you're wondering how you can do something like this, start with choosing you. Find what excites you most and choose that in whatever big or small ways you can.
Until next time when I share about sand dunes and mountain lakes and Sedona, AZ!
With love and joy, Whit
